Feminism. What is it? and how do people react towards it?
At the beginning of the 1960's the art world as to the business society was undeniably male dominated. Women were often excluded from entering museum shows and exhibitions. Historically the traditional art that women took part in creating associated with weaving, sewing and quilt making.
Yet to this very day feminism internationally makes art that reflects women's lives and experiences, as well as to change the foundation for the production and reception of contemporary art. Feminist art is created to expose women and their lives as said above but I believe that the art and the way women are shown has changed dramatically. A lot of the art that is created to display feminism art is quiet raunchy and displays some interesting aspects as to what women are meant to be like in their everyday lives.
Why is it that men are not to be painted, photographed or sculptured the way women are these days? And why is it that women are the ones who stand out? Yet don't get me wrong feminism art is creative and has a interesting aspect upon life.
Feminism is viewed differently by everyone and everyone has different ways of expressing feminist art. It's the way you view and the it's what YOU make of it
